This was shocking. Aqua’s actually graduating.
And yet, I actually expected this. Someday, everyone will graduate, since the people behind the talents would eventually have to give up their personas someday, whether it’s in pursuit of a new career or opportunities or just life moving on.
And I guess this is it for Aqua. It’s a sad day, since Aqua’s probably one of my first vtubers that I’ve followed, and have done so during the pandemic. There were days that have been legitimately difficult for me, only to be made better when she’s streaming at nights and I’m thankful for it.
She will be missed. But her legacy and her work and inspiration to us fans will resonate among us.
I truly hope for the best for her and her future. Vtubing is no different from any other job, and as such, people will someday resign and retire, in hopes to getting what they need and want.
And unlike past cases, at least this one’s similar to Coco and Sana — she’s departing on good terms. Or at least, it’s a peaceful one. Maybe she’ll be back as a new vtuber. Or not. Maybe there were disagreements, or not. We’ll never know the true reasons, and honestly, that’s fine. If it’s her wish to do so and she’s satisfied with her decision to depart, then she’s definitely free to pursue other things.
I’ll miss her Apex streams.
